Re: 8 tracks



Yes, 8 tracks were recordable, but the machines to do it were very difficult
to find. The playback quality was better than cassettes (which use 1 7/8
ips) because they ran at 3 3/4 ips (inches per second).
The jingles you heard on the radio were all on 8 track, but just to confuse
us they ran them at 7 1/2 ips. Now they use minidisc.
Whatever happened to DAT?
