Hackman Research Residency

The New York State Archives and the Archives Partnership Trust are pleased to announce the availability of grants through the Larry J. Hackman Research Residency Program. Residency grants support advanced work in New York State history, government or public policy.

Applicants working at the doctoral and postdoctoral levels are particularly encouraged to apply, but any proposal for advanced research will be considered. The topic or area of study must draw, at least in part, on the holdings of the New York State Archives. Awards generally range from $100 to $4,500. Preference will be given to projects that (1) have application to enduring public policy issues, particularly in New York State, (2) rely on holdings that have been little used and are not available electronically or on microfilm, and (3) have a high probability of publication or other public dissemination. Proposals must be received by January 31, 2002.

The program is a collaboration of the New York State Archives and the Archives Partnership Trust and is supported by private contributions and special grants. For complete guidelines and application forms: www.nysarchives.org; Archives Partnership Trust, Cultural Education Center, Suite 9C49, Albany, NY 12230; 518-473-7091 phone; 518-473-7058 fax; or aptrust@mail.nysed.gov.
