David Levy book is available

Archivists who heard the fascinating plenary session by David Levy at the
Denver SAA meeting - and those who weren't there as well - may be
interested to know that Levy's book on the subject has just been
published. Called "Scrolling Forward: Making Sense of Documents in the
Digital Age," the book is Levy's love letter to the written word. Levy
deconstructs the document and explores the computer as a writing
tool. More on the book can be found at <www.scrollingforward.com>.

For those of you who don't know, Levy has a Ph.D. in computer science from
Stanford University and a diploma in calligraphy and bookbinding. For
twenty years he worked as a researcher at the Xerox Palo Alto Research
Center (PARC). Levy's writings are always literate and archivists in
particular will find his ruminations on the nature of documents to be
thought-provoking.
