EAD user studies

Has anyone done any user studies to determine whether EAD is effective
in improving researcher access? There are now many institutions that
use it. What has been their experience, anecdotal or otherwise?

I searched the archives of the listserv, but got no hits.

Since I'm a lone arranger, I want to be absolutely positive that EAD has
measurable benefits in improving access before I take the plunge. Just
about the only resource I've got left is my time!

Thank you for any insights you can share.
