Re: Maintaining book collections



One of the problems in "deaccessioning" books from the archives
or special collections area is that what or where exactly do you do
with the books?   If they were transferred because they were in poor
condition, etc., who else can take them?   We have a number of books
that I'd love to move out for space but these books have not been
reprinted nor can they be replaced, and we do not have funds to
microfilm each title.   We've talked here about putting things in "Reserve"
but the Circulation/Reserve Room desk has the same limited storage
problems.
