Exhibit case policies

We have just moved into a new, vastly improved, greatly enlarged special
collections area (basically a move from an old typing room, with things
stored here and there, to a "real" special collections facility). As
part of that move we now have exhibit cases, with several inside our area
and one outside, in the more public area.

The question of exhibits has come up and I'm looking for the collective
wisdom of this group. Does anyone have exhibit policies they could share
that cover issues like who can use the cases, length of exhibits, etc.?
The question has already come up about having groups outside the library
using the cases, which our staff is against (unless the exhibit relates
directly to the archives in some way).

While policies related to exhibits in the archives would be most useful
at this time, if anyone has a more general library exhibit policy they
are willing to share, that would also be helpful. Our building has been
expanded and is continuing to undergo renovation and we will have picture
rails and cases in various parts of the building.

Thank you!!

Anne
