I was involved in the development of an interim records management database. One caveat (or several maybe) make sure that the IS developers document everything. You never know when you may need the database updated and if they are gone and didn't provide development documentation you may/ sorry you will have serious problems (speaking from hard learned experience. Secondly -- TEST THE BEJEEBERS out of the database before going live. have everyone who may have potential contact with it play with it. have the developers provide a data-map of the database. Will think of other things.
