Internship Opportunity - American Jewish Historical Society - Waltham, MA

The American Jewish Historical Society, Waltham, Massachusetts, seeks
qualified interns to work with the staff on many diverse and interesting
projects. These projects include assisting in the processing of the records
of the National Jewish Welfare Board, the cataloging of miscellaneous
manuscript collections, the creation of microfilm targets, and other library
and archival tasks as needed.

For 105 years, the American Jewish Historical Society has served as the
national archives of the Jewish people in America. Its holdings are the
preeminent resource for scholars, museums, filmmakers, publishers, and
genealogists who want to document American Jewish life from the 1590s to the
present. The oldest national ethnic historical organization in the United
States, the Society was the first systematic collector of archival, museum,
and published sources depicting the religious, communal, cultural, and
political life of American Jewry, and Jewish contributions to American life.

Qualifications: Excellant oral and written communication, organizational,
and planning skills requried. Ability to work independently and with
others, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

Although this is an unpaid position, it may help a library or archives
student fulfill an internship requirement.

To apply please contact: Dominic P. Grandinetti, Associate Archivist,
American Jewish Historical Society, Two Thornton Road, Waltham, MA 02453.
Telephone: (781) 891-8110.
