In need of advice

Hello all. Please forgive the cross-posting. I have sent this email to two
other lists.

I am a graduate student at UCLA's Library School who is working as an intern
at the Japanese American National Museum. The Museum has a collection of
approximately 5000-8000 acetate negatives dating from 1949 to the early 1980
's. These photos were taken by a local studio for a community based daily
newspaper. Currently, the collection is not arranged or described, is in
various stages of rehousing, and is obviously not accessible.

Could others with similar collections please share how you have arranged
your collection? At what level have you described the collection? Have you
created copy prints for researchers to use? If you have multiple iterations
of similar images have you kept them all?

Please respond off the list and thank you in advance for any help,
