Re: Cold Storage question

Did you check out what it had to say in Wilhelm's book?
Wilhelm, Henry Gilmer and Carol Brower. Permanence and Care of Color
Photographs: Traditional and Digital Color Prints, Color
Negatives, Slides, and Motion Pictures.
Grinnell, Iowa: Preservation Publishing Company, 1993
On page 726 he lists suppliers of vapor-proof, heat-sealable bags for
cold storage and equipment and general contractors for
humidity-controlled cold storage facilities.
Page 666 gives advice on packaging photographs for refrigeration and
recommended refrigerators. The author says he has been using a Kenmore
frost-free refrigerator/freezer sold by Sears since 1975. Pages 673-674
lists suitable Sears frost-free refrigerators.
Table 19.4 on page 669 is "Cautions when using a frost-free refrigerator
for storing photographs."

settings are about 30 degrees Fahrenheit and a relative humidity of
40%. My question concerns the control of the RH. I doubt a standard
freezer unit purchased from Sears will have humidity control. If the RH
is too high will lowering the temperature be enough to get the RH under
control? Does anyone know about humidity control systems for freezer
units?
