THE KARMA OF LITERATURE

Book Crossing (www.bookcrossing.com <http://www.bookcrossing.com>) wants to
turn the whole world into
a library. And with their unique "read and release" concept, they might
do just that. The site is the brainchild of a group of Kansas City based
computer consultants and works like this=A1K. First, register your book at
the Book Crossing web site. Once it's listed on their site, you'll get a
unique ID number and a registration card. Print out the card and attach
it to the inside cover of your book. The card explains the concept
behind Book Crossing and their "read and release" motto is stamped on
every piece of literature. Leave your book at a place where you know it
will get read=A1Kthe train station, Starbucks, an airport. Then, watch
your book travel. Readers are encouraged to add to the log on the Book
Crossing web site so anyone who picks up this book can see where it's
been. It's a great way to not only promote literature (more specifically
your book) but to take part in this part book club, part
message-in-a-bottle exercise.
