Two Manuscript Processing Assistants (22 months)

The Schlesinger Library on the History of Women in America seeks two manuscript processing assistants for a 22-month, NEH-grant-funded project (September 3, 2002 to June 30, 2004) to process collections documenting the post-World War II women's movement.  Primary responsibilities include arranging and describing collections and the creation of finding aids using word processing and SGML.  Finding aids will be created in SGML using the EAD (Electronic Archival Description) DTD (Document Type Definition).

Qualifications:  At least two years of experience in manuscript processing required; word processing skills, strong written, verbal, and listening skills, ability to work both independently and under supervision required.  M.L.S. with a concentration in archives management and/or an M.A. in American history preferred.  Familiarity with SGML and a degree in or knowledge of contemporary U.S. women's history preferred.

Compensation:  Salary is $37,500 (annual).  Harvard University offers a competitive program of benefits.
