Re: St. Lawrence, patron of archivists

By "patron saint," do you mean Catholic saint? Anglican saint? Tibetan
saint? If Catholic, then there is rarely one Catholic saint with sole
jurisdiction over something. More typically, several saints share the title
of "the" patron saint for a group or activity, and which is considered the
patron saint of what often changes from country to country and century to
century.

Archivists are no exception. A brief glance at the Archivists Daybook
reveals no less than six archives-related feast days:

July 8 (Saint Sunniva)
July 11 (Saint Benedict)
August 10 (Saint Lawrence)
September 30 (Saint Jerome)
November 25 (Saint Catherine)
December 11 (Saint Damasus).

And don't forget Wei T'o.

Subject: St. Lawrence, patron of archivists

I was looking at a webpage today and found out that
St. Lawrence, Deacon and Martyr, is the patron saint
of archivists. Does anyone have any more information
on this, such as why or if a prayer has been written
to go along with this patronage?
