The Book of Joe. Festschrift. Denial of Service. Boston Public Library.

I appreciate an opposing point of view,
as your might yourself Bernie Margolis !

That response you wrote, Bernie Margolis, is only another example of a
false notion of how to respond to a reference request, a false notion
of how to respond to a reference question.

A better idea of public library customer service doesn't attempt to
allege the blame to library users/customers/consumers and deny
service at points of service, such as reference desks.

Festscrifts are legitimately public.

Open BPL legitimately public archival materials.

Acquisition and accession more City of Boston public documents of all
 City Departments.

Fulfill the mission and mandate of making municipal government more
accessible to all who're interested, concerned and affected by civic
 matters.

Make the lib a part of a Municipal Reading Room program.

Mr. Saklad,
The "Book of Joe" does not exist. It is common practice among
cataloguers to honor colleagues with "catalog entries". I believe this
bit of cataloging folklore and practice has been shared with you. Sadly,
the "Joe" of the "Book of Joe" has passed away - he would be dismayed at
your use of him/and his name to question the openness of the library -
which he was so proud to serve. Is this how low you must scrape to find
something to criticize. The Boston Public Library, time and again, has
been found, by no less an authority than the Secretary of State to be in
full compliance with the law regarding public records. Please stop your
reckless activities and false accusations.
         Thank you,
                  Bernard Margolis
