This announcement is being sent to a number of lists. Please accept our

Judith F. Krug, Director of the Office of Intellectual Freedom of the
American Library Association (ALA) will be presenting a lecture entitled,
"Intellectual Freedom 2002: Living the Chinese Curse." at the Library of
Congress on Thursday, May 23rd, 2002, 10:30am-12:00pm in the Coolidge
Auditorium of the Library of Congress' Jefferson Building, First and
Independence Avenue S.E., Washington, D.C.
This event is the first in a new series of lectures "Luminary Lectures @
Your Library," sponsored by the Public Service Collections Directorate of
the Library of Congress.
Krug, a noted speaker and author in the area of intellectual freedom, was
most recently involved in ALA's challenge to the Children's Internet
Protection Act (CIPA) ; Her articles on intellectual freedom have appeared
in national library and education journals. This event is free and open to
the public.
