Clara Ashe

Good Morning:
As you may know I am teaching a preconference workshop at SAA in August on
African American Family History research. While researching the 1850 free
black population of Charleston, SC looking for individuals form outside of
SC, I can across the following remarkable woman:

Clara Ashe, age 105, color "black" born Africa. (1850 U. S. Census,
Charleston, SC p. 306).

This woman was born about 1745, kidnapped from her home and family in
African and sold into slavery in North American perhaps during the French
and Indian War.

I would like to dedicate my lectures at SAA to her memory. Does anyone out
there have any information on Clara Ashe? I do not have easy access to
Charleston, SC records. Can anyone help? I would love to find any of her
descendents!

thanks.
