OHA Conference and Annual Meeting in San Diego

The Oral History Association will hold its annual conference and meeting in
San Diego, Calif., from Wednesday, Oct. 23, to Sunday, Oct. 27. The
DoubleTree Hotel in Mission Valley is the conference hotel.

The 2002 OHA conference will include an array of presentations on the wide
range of ways that oral history is responding to and documenting
globalization in all of its aspects. Presentations will deal with the
cultural, artistic, social, political, and economic effects of the
internationalization of everyday life. With participants arriving from a
diverse mix of countries and communities and representing many different
political persuasions, this upcoming conference promises to be a site of
scintillating discussion.

Five tours will be offered that will explore Chicano art and culture in San
Diego?s famous Chicano Pare and Barrio Logan; take a cruise on San Diego Bay
and learn about San Diego?s military history; cross the international border
for a non-tourist tour of Tijuana; experience from behind-the-enclosures
peek of the world famous San Diego Zoo; and visit the Cupa Cultural Center
at the Pala Indian Reservation, as well as two of California?s early
Franciscan missions.
