French Translation
I forwarded the question on old French to the student/alums list for the
School of Library and Information Science at LSU. I ended my accompanying
note asking if any of the Cajuns on the list had any suggestions. Sure
enough, I got the following in response -- (Nothing like library students
to chase a question down!)

Try consulting:
Cormier, Yves. Dictionnaire du français acadien. Québec: Éditions Fides,
1999. 342.
The term that Cormier gives is "sacordjé" a profanity that has
several variants. The original term was "sacredié" and is attested in
Canada from about 1895. It is an expression of surprise, anger, etc.
