Hi David

I have 500 gallon tank. The heating element is 3000 watts, needed to
bring the water up to 70-80F prior to stating the brew.

What size element are you using to preheat your water?

When you say you use an electric blanket to keep it warm during the
brewing cycle, what sort of electric blanket is that?

An electrician I used for wiring my tractor shed suggested sitting the
(flat bottomed) tank on top of a water bed heater.
