Folks,
Just a quick question, how do we know that the ingredients we add will not =
have a detrimental effect on the microorganisms in the compost tea.
Elaine suggested using honey, but I've heard that honey has some antimicrob=
ial properties. This also relates to my query regarding peanut oil. I've =
heard that some oils such as olive oil, canola, lavender oil, ect are actua=
lly antibacterial.
Is it safe to say that due to the minute concentration of these substances =
in the tea, any negative effects would be negligible?
Thanks,
Matt

Elaine, I don't think you meant this
For a 5 gal brew, make a mix of a small amount of simple sugar (a teaspoon =
of
molasses or other complex sugar like honey), about a third of the weight or=
volume of the mix then should be kelp and micronutrients, about a third
should be a strong fungal food (humic acid) and the last third should be a=
protein mix like soybean meal, fish hydrolysate, or fulvic acid.
5 gallons is about 40 lbs, so that would mean to add 13 lbs each of kelp, h=
umic and soy meal. Wouldn't you want more like a spoonful size?
