Large air compressor? Like that I would use to run my air tools and such?
Must be a smaller one, otherwise that seems as though it would blow way too
much air and cost too much to run. Or, do you have a regulator of sorts?
Just curious.

Btw, what do the brewers cost to run on standard 110 volt house power? Do
the blowers and/or circulators take much energy to operate? Have the power
consumption numbers been figured?

Thx

Here's is a system that is working very well for a winery in Paso Robles.

55 gallon plastic drum.
25 ft of soaker hose
Large air compressor - like from sears
Shade cloth bag on a hoop that sits on top of the drum and allows the
compost to sit more or less in the center of the drum
Fittings to connect the soaker hose to the compressor while the soaker hose
is in the bottom of the drum.
A valve on the air line.
A way to get the tea out of the drum (sump pump?)

Place compost in bag and place bag in drum
Fill drum
Open valve to compressor - you should get a rolling boil of air at the
surface.
Add some nutrients (Organic Gem?, Humax?, ???)
Wait 12 to 24 hours

Well my grandiose plans to build my own brewer are just not panning out as I
had hoped. And to be frank, reading some of these lists has me concerned
about trying (which, to be honest, bothers me for the life of CT -ok, I'll
quit beating that dead protozoa).

I know a lot of this has to do with the numbers from a soil test, but has
anyone done a cost/benefit over time for those folks putting out $500+ or so
toward a brewer? From what I understand, aact doesn't exactly provide feed
for the plants, but more a means for them to better utilize the feed
(non-chem of course). Will I still need to "feed" my plants? Whats the
turn around for growing soils, and what more would one have to do to, say,
rebuild ground that has for many many years been grown, baled, fertilized,
herbicided, tilled, <repeat>.?

Ok, I'll be quite honest, my wife is looking at me with stern eyes when I
tell her that I am considering the purchase of a $500+ compost tea brewer..
I need more folks.

The future of my fields (8 or so acres), is to quit cutting and bailing all
the hay, but rotate several head of cattle in an intensive pasture
management approach. Also, to tractor some chickens around as well. I may
keep an acre or so in the rotation for cutting/bailing for my own use (our
horses). My fields are completely weaned of chemical fertilizers, but
having to take our first cutting off this season hurts. I'm hoping to feed
it back to the cattle when we get them on here, but not sure that will pan
out needing to turn a profit to satisfy the dern tax man.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thx,

Mike
