Re: LICORICE ON THE FAST TRACK

I use licorice root tincture for acute bouts of gastritis. I was lucky
enough to have a young doctor working with my doctor for awhile who
knew a bit about herbs and shared with me the following about licorice
root.
"Don't use it on a continuous basis because it can upset the body's
potassium levels."
My mother has taken high blood pressure medicine for years and has also
eaten a banana daily because her medication messes up her potassium
levels. So anyone taking high blood pressure meds might want to consult
with their doctor or certainly a trained herbalist before embarking on
any treatment which is going to require continuous use of licorice root
tinctures.
