AT least in the northeastern U>S> the native bees(bumbles, orchard
masons,solitary) Don't seem to be adversly effected by the mites.
It's not that they don't become infected with them but their lifecycle
inhibits the mites ability to build up their population. 99.9% of the
native bees die off during the winter which is when the mites seem to do
the most damage to the honeybees.  

If any one is interested in bumbles or native pollinators there are a few
good books.
