Re: questions seeking answers

>From what I've read, its winter I've been reading. You can garden in almost
any location. What it takes is patience. You must increase the humus
content, ie add compost, chopped leaves etc. Have you done any winter prep?
Did you plant a cover crop? Is this garden for personal use or commercial
use? My suggestion get a good organic book from your library read the soil
chapter and start building your soil. As you work with your garden throw
rocks into a bucket and start a rock pile.(I live in Massachusetts on land
that has been farmed for 200 years you should see the rocks!). An easy way
to "dig" a section of garden is not to dig, put potato sets on the sod,
cover with a thick layer of leaves and let grow, my father did it once when
I was a teenager, I thought it was fascinating. Of course is this method
adapted to all soil types I don't know. I say if this is your only
available space work with it and good luck! Beth
