Bluebird box treatment

Of possible interest was the article in the Journal of Field Ornithology,
spring 94, in which Davis, Kalisz, and Wells did a study revealing that E.
Bluebirds prefer nest boxes in which the nest from the previous season
remains in the box ("in 38 of 41 instances in which the boxes were paired
with empty ones"). There was also no evidence that leaving the nest in the
box caused an increase in parasites the following year, conversely, the old
nest possibly harbors beneficial wasps which parasitize the "harmful"
blowfly larvae.
Just thought some of you might find this useful.
