Hello Carolina Birders,
It's been interesting to read all the reports about the diet of Cooper's hawks
today - particularly since I had one perched on the top of the gazebo this
morning about 7 AM. I encouraged it to dine on one or more of the 6-8 squirrels
that are wrecking my garden but to no avail. It was, however, directly above
the bird feeder. It was quite content to sit and preen for about 20 minutes
after I spotted it before it flew into the neighboring trees. I even had time
to get my camera for a photo but don't expect great results since I photographed
through the window.
Recently I was introduced to "Environment News Service" web site and have
subsequently subscribed to the list serve. It has fascinating environmental
news from around the world and NC has even made the news two times in the last
week. Thought you might enjoy checking it out at http://ens-news.com.
Have a great afternoon.
