Having lived in our house in Pitt County near Greenville, NC since 1983,
new yard birds are now a rare event. At 8 a.m. this morning, I had a
great look at an Orange-crowned warbler. The split eye ring and faint,
blurry striping on the breast were visible. The yellow breast was a
little brighter than the birds I see at Mattamuskeet in the fall and
winter. Amazing how such a dull little guy can brighten up a morning!
