A small group from the Foothills Bird Club visited the Wagner Property in
Happy Valley, NC this morning and were quite surprised---and pleased---to
find a good number of migrants! The first bird of the day was a gorgeous
singing male Scarlet Tanager! The next was Black-throated Green Warbler,
Northern Parula, Blue-headed Vireo, Common Yellowthroat, Blue-gray
Gnatcatcher, White-eyed Vireo and Broad-winged Hawk. Other migrants seen
were Eastern Kingbirds, Barn Swallows, Rusty Blackbirds, Osprey, and
Blue-winged Teal. We took several photos of one tail-less Kingbird (boy,
did he look weird when flying!!!!!) and a Rusty Blackbird. Click on the
website at the bottom of the page to see them. Click on the Spring Migrants
link to see them.
