Curlew ID question

Morning!
I was wondering if anyone with Whimbrel/Bristle-thighed Curlew experience would like to take a guess at a bird Tracy and I saw last week in Homer,
Alaska.
We initially assumed this bird was a Whimbrel as Homer usually gets one or two Bristle-thighs a spring, however, the bird did seem to have some
characteristics
that made us question the ID. A pair of pics is on the web at http://www.tropicbird.homestead.com/curlew.html

Any comments or postulations on the ID are welcome!

Thanks!
