I've been busy with house guests (and grandkids) so did not get to write
this sooner. After all the chatter about a cardinal catching a
hummingbird, I am sharing a cardinal story that happened this last week. A
female cardinal must have flown into our large windows overlooking the
marsh and was laying on the deck, dead by all appearances. A male cardinal
was flying and hopping around her, calling and occasionally touching her
with his beak. A sad ceremony to watch. The next time we looked out the
window, they were both gone. So I guess the male's devotion was enough to
revive his mate and they flew off together. A happy ending! :-)
