Where did all the "divers" go?

We've had a few ducks here in Hendersonville, NC on Lake Osceola.
January 5 the lake was partially frozen so ducks were gathered in a
small area. Gadwalls, Hooded Mergansers, Ringnecks, Buffleheads,
Ruddys, Am. Widgeons, one Pintail and I forget the one Wayne saw that we
didn't see.

This past Saturday, Feb. 2, we dropped by the Lake Osceola on our way to
Lake Jocassee and there were several pairs of Gadwalls (more than before
at least that we saw) and at least 4 pairs of Shovelers, along with the
Ruddys and Buffys. So, we've been lucky up here in Hendersonville
altho' the numbers aren't great. We only saw one common Loon at Lake
Jocassee but saw several pine warblers, yellow rumps, and two hermit
thrushes plus our usual chattery friends i.e. chickadees, etc.

We've only recently plugged into this e-mail list and it is really
interesting altho' we live so far from where most of the folks post
from.
