Having seen plenty of birds that were not in typical habitat
(including a Carolina Brewer's Blackbird that was not in a cow
field), I am not surprised by the possible presence of a Snowy Owl
in Chapel Hill. What is suspiciously surprising, considering the
lack of sightings in the only local "good" Snowy Owl habitat, is the
apparent presence of this bird over a period of time.
