Re: Black-headed Gull

I looked for the Black-headed Gull today on my way home from the Outer
Banks, and did not see it. In all the January sightings it seemed to be
attracted to the rapid streams of water passing through the causeway
culverts from one side of the lake to the other. Now the two sides of
the lake seem to be in balance and there was no current at all, so
perhaps that caused it to move on.

My most interesting sighting at Mattamuskeet was one American White
Pelican, among Tundra Swans. It was well camouflaged when it tucked
its bill under its wing!
