In spite of the light rain the Blue Ridge Bird Club members that
participated in the annual walk along the river were rewarded with several
good birds. The park provides good looks at both Orchard and Baltimore
Orioles and offers the chance for a Golden-winged Warbler. It also provides
those of us with suburban Charlotte burnout a chance to escape into the
serenity of the southern Appalachians.
Orchard Oriole
Baltimore Oriole
Yellow Warbler (by the bushel)
Myrtle Warbler
Palm Warbler
Common Yellowthroat
Indigo Bunting
Red-winged Blackbird
Green Heron
Great Blue Heron
Mallard
Wood Duck
Raven
Red-tailed Hawk
Spotted Sandpiper
There's a chance that folks who stayed a bit longer than we did got that
Golden-winged. Hopefully the CBC folks experienced a little less moisture
than we did.
