Recent bird sightings

We have a baby Thrasher in our backyard. Saw him sitting in the willow
near our small pond with a parent coming in regularly to check on it.

On a trip with SCAN(South Carolina Association of Naturalists)this
weekend I saw and heard my first Veery. An ethereal sound coming from
the forest along NC215 north of Balsam Grove, NC.

Good look look at my first sighting of an curious Ovenbird at Gorges
State Park
which was coaxed our way with some "psssshing" by a fellow observer.

Observed at the park also male and female Great Crested Flycatchers
building a nest by bringing leaves etc. up to the hole in the end of a
rotting branch on an oak.

Heard and saw numerous Hooded Warblers
Heard what have been a Red Brested Nuthatch, Very nasal call, Black and
White Warblers,Ovenbirds, Black Throated Blue Warblers, Black Throated
Green Warblers, Downy Woodpecker, Wood Thrushes and Towhees.
