Beaver Lake Birdwalk surprise

C-birders
Our monthly Beaver Lake Birdwalk in Asheville, NC was early this morning on
what we expected to be a fairly ordinary day. However we did get a few
surprises. The highlights follow:
Warbling Vireo: At least 2 birds around the sanctuary. Some brief singing
heard
Black-and-white Warbler: 1 immature "wandering"
Yellow Warbler: Female feeding large chick
American Redstart: At least 2 individuals
Tree Swallow: 10+
.......and most unusual of all was when we all heard the unmistakeable song
of a White-throated Sparrow echoing from the thickets. After a bit of
bush-beating we did find the bird scratching away in thick brush. Not what
one expects on a hot July morning!
Beaver Lake walks are held on the 1st Saturday of every month and during the
months of August and September will be from 8-10 AM.
