The following are highlights of the Sunday morning birdwalk at Magnolia
Plantation at 3550 Ashley River Road (highway 61 ) west of Charleston, SC.
August 4, 2002
52 species were seen and/or heard. The most interesting were; 20 Least
Bitterns, 25 Black-crowned Night Herons, 10 Glossy Ibis, 1 Mississippi Kite,
1 Adult Bald Eagle, 1 Cooper's Hawk, 1 Red-shouldered Hawk, 6 American Coots
( 2 adults feeding 4 babies ), 2 Black Skimmers, 20 Marsh Wrens ( heard
singing in early am from marsh grass across the river ), and 1 Louisiana
Waterthrush.
