pond report

hot hazy and humid; sounds like the middle of summer and felt like it too.
Had many Indigo buntings on the way to the pond, field sps singing and at
the pond were the ususal suspects Canadas with about 7 goslings between 3
prs, redwinged black birds calling and looking for nesting sites, 2 spotted
sandpipers, still what I think is a lesser yellowlegs, Mute swan still
sitting on her nest, prairie warbler, unidentified sparrow looking bird,
mallard mother and babies, red-tailed hawk overhead, and a huge black rat
snake in the road, possibley a hodded warbler calling along with 1-2
ovenbirds and the ever present and singing red eyed vireo. The honeysuckle
and blackberries smelled and looked great. So not much happening except
waiting on the babies to hatch. pond in NE Orange county, barb brooks
