NC Black-Chinned

Today was a sad and lonely day! I knew time was running out and that
"Princess", my black-chinned, was soon to feel the itch and head on her
way. I did not see Princess at all today; the last I saw of her was
yesterday afternoon. I even took down front feeder today for a period
of an hour so I could observe back feeders only and, unfortunately, no
Princess. I believe Princess has started her migration. I miss her and
hope that she will be 1 of the 8 hummers that return for the winter. I
am looking forward to my "youngins" return and am already making plans
on improvements for her (and Ruby's) return for next winter. What an
empty feeling but, at the same time, a beautiful feeling. The joy
Princess has brought to be since 11/9/99 is irreplaceable.

I want to thank ALL my visitors that came to see Princess! I have
thoroughly enjoyed each and everyone of your visits. So many
wonderful memories! I have learned so much from you all! I loved being
able to share Princess (and Ruby) with you all. As sad as I am with
Princess's departure, I hope that somewhere down the road, I'll hear of
her recapture and memories of Princess and how Princess would "ham" it
up for her visitors brings a smile to my face and next winter, is not
too far away! Thank you all for coming to see Princess!!!!

Ruby is still here; don't think for too much longer. She is getting
very plump! And, new feathers! Watching the changes in both Ruby and
Princess has been a knowledgeable experience! I will enjoy the
pictures/camcorder shots I have of the two for many years to come.

I do have a question to ask you all. I have been participating in the
Backyard Bird Count. And, luckily, both Princess and Ruby were here.
While checking the status, the black-chinned is not showing up in the
count. Black-chinned is not on the initial list and you have to
complete the "other" birds box. Is there anything I need to do so that
Princess is included in the backyard count?

You all have been terrific! Thanks!
