Similarly to Shantanu's observation of the LA Waterthrush, I've seen 
Ovenbird, another species normally closely associated with the ground, 
singing from 20 feet or so up in a tree. In most cases, they were on very 
thick limbs or slanting trunks, which allowed the O-bird to walk along 
pretty much as it would on the ground, rather than perching on small 
twigs the way most warblers do...
