Hello, this is an April 7 update of the Carolina Rare Bird Alert featuring
birding news from North and South Carolinasponsored by the Carolina Bird
Club. Highlights on this report include:

RUFF
YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD
SHINY COWBIRD

A RUFF is being seen at the Bodie Island Lighthouse pond on North Carolina's
Outer Banks. This bird has been seen daily since 4-2. From the observation
platforms at the pond look to the left to the close left corner of the pond.
This particular bird shows some red or rufous coloring about the neck region.
Ruff/reeve is very rare in NC but does occur every few years; rarely
lingering long enough for birders to arrive.

A male YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD has been coming to a feeder in Morehead City,
NC , last reported 4-5. For updates on this bird call John Fussell at
252-240-1046.

A singing SHINY COWBIRD was seen 3-30 near Stumpy Point on the Dare Co.(NC)
mainland. The bird was at the intersection of Long Curve Rd. and Navy Shell
Rd.

Thanks this week to John Fussell for his 3 reports.
