Birds in the wrong place

I spent some time saturday on the "warbler trail" at
Mason Farm in Chapel Hill trying to track down a
singing Louisiana Waterthrush. He was moving around a
bit but I was so close and just could not see him. I
finally figured out why when I spotted him 15 feet up
in a tree. He flitted from tree to tree never coming
near the ground. That's not fair! Plus, if I hadnt
taken so long to find him, I may have been out from
under the trees when the anhingas came by.
The next day the same thing happened to me with an
ovenbird. I tracked him down but then had to pick him
out of the foliage 20-25 feet off the ground. I have
seen this before, but twice in two days! I am
beginning to think the birds dont like me. I think I
deserve a screech owl perched outside my bedroom
window in recompense.
