Re: Interesting birds

Come up here. I have heard Hoodeds in Brevard (at the Wal-Mart), and saw
Yellows in Clyde (also at the Wal-Mart).
Still hearing the Prarie at Wal-Mart on Hendersonville Rd. in A'ville.
Back of the garden center. Didn't get a chance to hunt for him. Also
heard Catbird, Carolina Wren, saw Goldfinches, and observed a Rough
Winged Swallow fly to the side of the buildiing, and take a few steps,
and get something in her beak, and fly away. Hmmmmm. Never saw a Swallow
walk. Ambled over there to see what she was getting. Mainly Tulip Tree
(Liriodendron tulipifera, also called Yellow Poplar or Tulip Poplar)
seeds, and a few cigarette butts. Hoping she was not a cigarette smoker
(no offense meant; I smoke a pipe, but it couldn't be good for a swallow)
I figured she was hauling away the winged seeds of the Poplar. Hmmmm. To
line her nest maybe? She would also haul away a big bit of dried grass
from time to time.
Also saw a bright male Cardinal, and he told me it was going to be a
pretty day, saying "pretty, pretty pretty", or maybe he was talking about
himself. Heard a Catbird serenade that would rival any Mocker, and he did
not repeat himself once. (Haha!)
Back there tomorrow. Maybe I'll go after that Prarie.....
