Barn owls and tits



Science News,  May 13, 2000 has two articles that may interest bird lovers.
One article states that European researchers have documented the first case
of females in the wild decked out to advertise their good genes to picky
males:  sexy black spots of a femal barn owl on her breast.

The other article states that pairs of long-tailed tits (aegithalos
caudatus) are more likely to break up and find ndw mates if they succeed in
raising young than if the nest fails.
