I saw a Painted Bunting along with some Indigo Buntings around 8 this
evening in a field near Heathwood Hall. I was birding with a friend who had
some Canon Image Stabilizing Binoculars (15x45). I was looking on a
branch across a field where Indigo Buntings can usually be found. All
of a sudden a Painted Bunting (male) lighted on the limb. Although these
binocs may be a little heavy for birding they sure came in handy today. The
bunting stayed there long enough to give us both a few good looks. I'd
seen them there before but this is the first time this year. Always a
beautiful sight.
