If you have never visited Francis Beidler Forest at 4 Hole Swamp you have
missed a wonderful experience. I,100 acres are owned and maintained by the
Audubon Society and the Nature Conservancy. The birding is great (lots of
warblers, vireos and others)! A boardwalk meanders over the swamp for a mile
and a half. Besides the birds, the natural habitat ( a virgin cypress swamp)
and other native animals make each step on the boardwalk a learning
experience.
It is located 45 miles west of Charleston, SC off Interstate 26. Visit the
web site for more information.
