Eagles preying on birds

Ok, I'll add my experience. Several years ago I was at the Brigantine
NWR in New Jersey, just north of Atlantic city. An adult Bald Eagle was
being seen rather regularly. One early fall afternoon I spotted the
bird at rest on a closed dike on the opposite side of the west
impoundment from my location on the north dike. The eagle took off and
flew low over a large raft of green-winged teal, obviously looking for a
target. One duck moved rather slowly as the flock took off and the
eagle headed for it. The resident Perigrine beat the eagle to the punch
and took the teal out of the air. The teal, however, was a pretty good
load for the falcon and hampered its flight. The eagle stooped. The
Perigrine dropped the duck which the eagle plucked out of the air. The
eagle then proceeded to a fallen snag in the middle of the impoundment
where it proceeded to enjoy its repast.
