conservation amendment on ballot Tuesday (fwd)

Hi again,

Anyone not registered to vote in NC can delete this message now.

Just received the below from a fellow Duke grad student. Some of the
newspapers also mention this issue. Apparently, a clerical detail in state
law doubles the paperwork necessary to accept property into the State
Nature and Historic Preserve system. Voting *FOR* this amendment reduces
the redundant paperwork, making it easier to protect NC wildlife habitat
as state preserves.

Good birding,

Josh

Subject: conservation amendment on ballot Tuesday

For those of you who will be voting Tuesday, this is just a heads up to
expect to see the following amendment on the NC ballot:

[ ] FOR [ ] AGAINST
Constitutional amendment making a technical correction to allow
dedication and acceptance of property into the State Nature and Historic
Preserve by the General Assembly by enactment of a bill rather than a joint
resolution.

This amendment will make it much easier for lands to be accepted by the
state as nature preserves, and therefore the conservation vote is yes.
Please let your non-environmental friends know!

Thanks for voting,

Ron
