Raleigh, NC
Rob Jackson, head of the Ecology Department at Duke, will talk about his
book, "The Earth Remains Forever" on Thursday, December 5, 7:30 pm at
Quail Ridge Books (828-1588) in Raleigh. Wake Audubon is co-sponsoring
the program with the Capital Group Sierra Club.
Monthly Program
Tuesday, December 10, "Wildlife Wonders of Uganda: Images from the Jewel
of East Africa." Hear ecotraveler Dave Davenport relate his Ugandan
experiences. The meeting will be held at 7:30 pm in the A-level
conference room of the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences,
located in downtown Raleigh.
Field Trips
Bagels and Birding on the Buckeye, Saturday, December 7, 8:30 am. Meet
at the Greenway parking area on Crabtree Boulevard, between Capital
Boulevard and Raleigh Boulevard, (832-4128).
Anderson Point Parks & Recreation Class, Saturday, December 14,
9:00-10:30 am. Local Purple Martin expert Tim Francis will teach us how
to attract Purple Martins, to care for and maintain a colony, and what
to look for in a house. Program appropriate for ages 10 to adult,
(571-0388).
Annual Christmas Bird Count, Saturday, December 21, 755-0253.
Anderson Point Avian Adventures, Saturday, December 21, 8:30 am. Meet
in the parking lot at Anderson Point Park. Take Highway 64 east from the
Beltline two miles. Turn right on Rogers Lane; the parking lot is at the
end of the street, (881-2601).
