The following are highlights of the three hour Sunday birdwalk at Magnolia
Plantation at 3550 Ashley River Road ( highway 61 ) Northwest of Charleston,
SC. led by Perry Nugent at 8:30 am.
December 1, 2002
63 species were seen and/or heard. The most interesting were; 4
Black-crowned Night Herons, 10 Wood Ducks, 25 Green-winged Teal, 6 Gadwals,
4 American Wigeon, 20 Ring-necked Ducks, 1 Osprey, 2 Northern Harriers, 2
Virginia Rails, 3 Soras, 1 Least Sandpiper, 3 Pileated Woodpeckers, 4
Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers, 15 Eastern Bluebirds, 4 Cedar Waxwings, 1
Orange-crowned Warbler, and 20 American Goldfinches.
